Improving the Safety of Refractive Surgery

Dr. Thompson worked with Dr. David Choi, Dr. Francis Price, Dr. Marianne Price, and Lori Potrezbowski to study flap thickness depth in patients undergoing LASIK eye surgery. Dr. Thompson used his electrical engineering skills to devise a method using Optical Coherence Tomography to noninvasively measure corneal flap thickness with LASIK surgery. Knowledge of the flap thickness helps improve the safety and efficacy of the procedure.
